National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) Bursaries 2024
National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) invites eligible South African students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.
Bursary application closing date is 05 December 2023.
NDMC Bursary Programme Details:
- Qualifying Fields: Disaster Risk Management, Disaster Risk Studies, or Fire Services Technology for undergraduate and postgraduate studies (excluding Certificate courses and PhD qualifications).
- Financial Coverage: The bursary covers registration fees, full tuition fees, and a resources allowance of up to R11,000.
- Contractual Obligation: Successful candidates will be required to sign a bursary contract with the Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG) through the NDMC.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- South African Citizenship
- Education: Completed Matric
- Studies: Enrolled or intending to study towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in the specified fields at a South African public higher learning institution.
- Academic Performance:
- For Undergraduate and Postgraduate applicants: Minimum overall average of 60% in Matric and most recent academic results.
- For Masters applicants: Minimum overall average of 65% in most recent academic results.
- Income Limitation: Total income of less than R350,000 per year for employed or unemployed applicants.
- Application to a Public Tertiary Institution: Proof of application/acceptance/registration at a public tertiary institution in South Africa.

- Supporting Documents: Prepare clear copies of mandatory documents listed in the application.

Required Documents:
Ensure all necessary documents are included with your application:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of Matric certificate
- Proof of application/acceptance/registration at a public tertiary institution
- Most recent academic results on the institution’s letterhead
- Short Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages)
- Parents/guardians proof of household income (payslips, affidavit, grant/pension proof)
- Your proof of income if employed (latest payslips)
- For postgraduate/Masters applicants: relevant academic results, transcripts, or qualifications on the institution’s letterhead, and for Masters applicants, a concept note of proposed research on Priority Thematic Areas.
